It was a beautiful weekend for
“Selma in the Spring”. I went
downtown on Friday and Saturday and
took some pictures of the
activities. Saturday was on the
windy side which was perfect for
taking flag pictures. I have some of
the pictures posted on Picasa.
Following are links to the Picasa

Selma is Railroad
Days -
October 1, 2011
Videos and
Photos Posted.
The 35th annual Selma
Railroad Days was a great event.
Thanks to Joe & Joni, the sponsors,
volunteers and all of the town
employees that make this happen each
year.
I took pictures and videos of the 5K
run, parade and activities uptown. I
have links to these pictures posted
on this page and on the “Index
Page”. The pictures of the
events uptown are limited this year.
I ran out of steam about 1:30 and
stopped shooting. Might have to
solicit some help next year. |

Selma is Antiques
Shoppers to Selma will find over
100,000 square feet of antique shops
and malls all within walking
distance of each other on a
picturesque 1950s streetscape.
Antique dealers work cooperatively
to market Selma as a destination and
they host the annual East Coast
Antique Show and Sale every October
with dealers lining the streets,
food vendors and entertainment. |
The
town of Selma is officially
designated a N.C. Main Street Small
Town.
Town Manager Richard Douglas
announced Selma is one of
three towns that will receive
technical assistance through a state
department of commerce sponsored
program. “We’re very excited to be
selected. A lot of very deserving
communities applied. We’re very
fortunate to be selected,” Douglas
said.
The main focus for the town,
according to Douglas, is marketing.
He said he is already planning to
use a USDA loan of $75,000,
previously approved, for streetscape
improvements. The main street
program and town volunteers will
work on designs that include
streetscape.
